need!trip

During my graphic design internship with the NEED! team in 2023, we launched the first "need!trip" themed event at Wumeng Grassland in Guizhou, from August 25 to 27. Over three days, participants escaped urban life to enjoy experimental art and music in nature, with 13 artists hosting 22 workshops by day and 16 musicians turning the nights into a lively musical feast.

The Sun

To celebrate the birth of need!trip series, I was tasked with designing a very unique key visual only for this event: the rising sun over the Guizhou Wumeng Grassland. Supported by the team, I incorporated much richer color palettes and patterns specifically for this inaugural one-time use.

Participating in the design and organization of this event has been one of the most valuable experiences of my design career. I moved beyond working digitally to being involved in the entire process of a real design project. I communicated in-person with photographers, performance artists, musicians, designers, receiving immediate feedback on the material designs from event participants.

Thank you, need!trip.
